Kaylene and Jimm Derksen

President and Vice President

Kaylene and Jimm Derksen met in a college choir and married 35 years ago. Both grew up in Mennonite homes near the Great Lakes. Though they were young, they felt called into ministry from their early 20’s, serving as youth pastors and worship leaders. They have traveled extensively and lived in Europe where they raised their daughter, Helena. Their lives have been enriched by the variety of cultures, languages, and people they’ve worked with.

After six years in Germany, the Derksens settled in Lancaster, PA, where they both worked at the headquarters of their denominational mission agency, Kaylene as Development Director and Jimm in Human Resources.

In 2012, the Derksens were introduced to soul care through the ministry of Potter’s Inn. A timely message they took to heart immediately. They were students in the 2nd Cohort of the Soul Care Institute and since graduating have spread the soul care message through leading retreats and many other ways that have come up as a result of slowing down and paying attention. Kaylene and Jimm have been leading the Soul Care Institute since July 2020.

The Derksens live in a 200 year old farm house in a neighborhood where they love to take long walks, watch birds, and welcome guests around their table. They especially enjoy dinner most Sunday evenings with Helena and her husband, James.

Anne Broyles

Program Administrator

Anne was a Cohort 2 member of the Soul Care Institute. She was raised in Texas, but later followed her desires by living in Colorado for 16 years. She returned to TX four years ago and is delighted to be part of the Soul Care Institute team.

Anne has been a student of spiritual formation for many years, serving on staff at a retreat ministry and a small church in Pagosa Springs, CO. She received her MA in Spiritual Formation and Leadership from Spring Arbor University in Michigan.

She loves seeing lives transformed, learning to walk in deeper intimacy with Jesus, and loves to walk along-side others in the stories God is constantly weaving. Anne misses the beauty of the mountains but finds deep joy and gratitude in her friends and family, spending time in the outdoors, reading, walking her Black Lab Brenni and anticipating what new things God will reveal.

My experience has been so, so transformative and
I can’t stop recommending it to others.
— Natalie Taylor (Cohort 6)
